If McDonald's sold hot dogs, could you order a McWiener with a straight face and ask them to supersize it? LMFAO

Have you ever had a teacher who made a profound difference in your life? How did they influence and/or inspire you?

If a person was to ask me who my greatest teacher was, I would have to say Ms. Sherry Adams, who taught graphics class. Honestly, I found her class by mistake. It began at the end of my freshman year.

I was in the guidance office and I was choosing my next year's courses. I asked what kind of art classes the school offered. The counselor then told me about graphic communications, which is offered at our county's career center. I signed up and had the class during the second semester of my sophomore year. It was the best thing that happened to me.

I had no clue where my life was heading or what I wanted to do in the future. Sophomore year, I fell in love with graphics. I found I had a knack for it, and with that came a passion. I enjoyed my work so much that I continued into the level II graphics course the next year. I fell even more in love with the class as well as the industry.

If it had not been for my amazing instructor, I would not be the person I am today. She helped me to realize that the path to success and significance is not the same for everyone. It is a personal journey and is sometimes not what others may want for you. But in the end, it is what is best for you and what will make you into a great person, leader, and friend.

My First Week of College

My marching band section leader is a total snotty music major asshole and my roommates don't give a damn about anything but partying and they wake me up in the middle of the night coming in drunk and their parts of the room are always a mess and the people at the library now know me as "that art major that comes here every night to work on her projects and drink white mocha coffee because her roommates suck" lmao. Luckily, I am in here alone for now, God only knows what the other two are up to. There are condoms and banana peels all over the hallway and I'm starting to hate it here.

Classes, however, are absolutely amazing. My fundamentals of art (2D) teacher is extremely abstract and loves to make us really think and try to deviate from the human form and recognizable shapes. My art history class is basically just a world history class with a focus on art, which I absolutely love. The drawing teacher is kind of strange--he's obsessed with elephants and showed us a painting of a ferris wheel rolling away with people falling out of it and an elephant raping a rhino in the background... but otherwise he seems interesting. My English teacher is pretty cool, and it seems like we will have fun in her class. She gives out all her homework assignments early, so it gives me something to do when I'm trying to stay away from my roommates. I enrolled in a class to get credit for being on the design team for Tempo, The literary/art magazine on campus. I'm writing and designing an article about the GLBT community and the impact of California overturning the Proposition 8 decision. University 110 seems like it's going to be a lot of work, but on the bright side I get to spend a lot of my time in there doing community service and stuff like that, although we have a capstone project due by the end of the semester and I will have to turn in two portfolios by the end of the semester (one for Drawing I and one for Fundamentals of Art I-2D), which should be okay as long as I get all my projects in class done.

Jeffrey started class at York Tech and seems to be doing well with it, I miss him a lot. He's bringing me back here after Thanksgiving break and staying for a few days, which will be a nice change. Beth and I often have breakfast and/or lunch together, and hopefully I'll get to stay with her at some point this weekend to get away from my dorm. Unfortunately, I'm kind of scared to leave my things in my room unattended.

Well, that's all for now. Wish me luck.

Has technology and the Internet given you more or less free time? What's the biggest change? If your phone could make video calls, would you use that feature? Why or why not?

Technology and the internet have actually given me less free time. When I have nothing else to do, it is a good thing, because it fixes my boredom. But, when I have a LOT to do, it gets me in trouble because I end up maintaining web pages and chatrooms instead of doing chores or homework or whatever.

The biggest change with me before and after I got my own computer and really got into graphic design and the internet was that I read a lot less. I used to read books all the time... now I don't. I also watch less TV, because everything I could get from TV I can get from the internet faster and cheaper.

If my phone could make video calls, I would most definitely use that feature. I love Skype, and being able to do the same thing on my phone would be amazing. I have a Sprint phone, and I can't even take videos with the camera. But I would love being able to use video calls, since I am going to college in less than two weeks and my aunt is pregnant with my new baby cousin and one of my cousins is also pregnant, and I am having to leave my boyfriend behind. It would really be lovely to be able to call all of them and see their faces and the new additions to our families.

Lately every day I've been worrying about everything about getting ready for college and all the stuff I need to do before I leave. Yeah, I'll overcome it but it will be replaced with something new once I get to college, you know? Like right now I'm worrying about what to pack and if I'm packing everything I need, but then once I'm there I'm going to be worrying about if I'm getting to band camp on time then worrying about getting to class and homework and hanging with friends and all... Plus finding time to post online so my family doesn't get too worried :) I love them (mostly) lol Well I guess that's it really.

Have you ever boycotted a company or product? If so, what was it, and what caused you to boycott it?

I haven't actually done that but one of my uncles did. He boycotted Cracker Barrell because he heard that they didn't hire GLBT people.

I am reading A Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmier. It is the required freshman reading book for my University 110 class at Coastal Carolina University. It was a very interesting read, with three storylines that tied in together really well. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

What are five things you love about where you live and five things that you hate? How does it compare to previous places you've lived?

I don't know if I can think of 5 things I love about Chester, SC. As for five things I hate? Well, there is nothing to do here. There is not even a Walmart Super Center here. There is no taco bell, and no bookstore. There is no mall, no roller rink, no bowling alley, NOTHING. There is nothing here at all, PLUS half the people here are redneck racist fools.

Um about the only thing I like about where I live is that my love lives near me, and I'm right across the street from the swimming pool and down the road from the library.

Swimming=Love

Well, I have finally figured out how I can lose weight. I just got done swimming 350 meters. I just did it for shits and giggles, just to see if I could still swim distance like I used to on the swim team. A full swim team workout is 500 meters. So I am going to start swimming every day for the rest of the summer and try to work up to swimming 500 meters every day. It will help me lose weight, feel better, and it's one of the few exercises I can do without it hurting. So my new goal is to swim at least 300 meters a day, but as much more than that as I can. Plus, I can keep swimming every day while I'm in college too, since there is a free health and fitness center on campus, and I have no morning classes except on Tuesday and Thursday. And, there's the ocean :)

I'm excited to get this started.

"Shoot for the moon, for even if you miss you will land among the stars." Not very original and I can't remember who said it but it's my philosophy on life.

I'm confused at the moment. I'm so ready to go to college and start a new life, but at the same time, there's so much I will miss. I will miss my new baby cousin being born, I will miss my other baby cousin's birthday... and I will miss Jeffrey so much. I know he'll be working and in school but I will still miss him. I hope he visits on the weekends.

I can't wait til college starts though. I get to decorate my own room--going shopping tomorrow for some of the stuff I will need and going back next week for the rest. I will be in marching band, meet new people... I can't wait. and being an art major is gonna be so fun.

I don't know what to think at the moment. but I'm half excited, half worried.
